"As a recent graduate from the DNP program at UCONN, I can happily say, I am incredibly proud to be a Husky! From the initial information session I attended 3 years ago, to now being 2 months post completion, I continue to feel supported by the faculty and staff of the DNP program.
I was worried that studying online and from out of state that I'd have difficulty forming bonds with my classmates or having meaningful interactions with my professors. Wow, was I wrong! The tight-knit academic team of this program goes out of their way to create intimate relationships and connections with each student and forge those connections with fellow classmates. Halfway through the program I was thrilled to meet a few members of the faculty at a student mixer that was hosted in Washington, DC (near my home). I was greeted with embraces and felt immediately welcomed by these esteemed faculty members.
I can clearly recall a particular concept that was challenging for me during a course. I emailed my professor to share my frustration. She wrote back with available times to meet via TEAMS and we proceeded to spend nearly 45 minutes together (one-on-one) mastering the concept. That felt incredible! The director of the program, Dr. Joy Elwell, spent precious time locating and connecting me with the perfect associate advisor for my project. She and my team guided and supported me wholeheartedly during all of the stages of my project implementation and manuscript creation.
Even now, post completion, we remain in contact and I've been invited back to serve as a member of the Research and Scholarship Committee and as an associate advisor for a current DNP student. I am now a lifelong Husky and am eternally grateful to the doors that have opened due to this robust program."
